Natural Slate Water Features for Calm Garden Spaces
The Water Table
We are small team of 4 people working hard from our studio in Cornwall, creating contemporary water features from natural Cornish slate. Our work has been recognised with 5-Star Trade Stand Awards at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in 2024 and 2025.
The Water Table has become one of our most popular designs, which is why we created this dedicated site. To see our larger handcrafted slate water features, visit our studio website at www.jhastings.co.uk.
We’re proud to have 29 five-star Google reviews from customers who now enjoy our work in their gardens. We really care that you get the best feature for your garden and enjoy it for many years to come.
The Sound of Flowing Water
The textured slate surface creates a gentle stream sound as water flows across it.
The effect is calming and natural — closer to a small stream than a typical bubbling fountain. Bring Calm Movement to Your Garden
Your garden will benefit from the sound and movement of water, but traditional fountains can splash, bubble loudly or require complicated installation.
The Water Table creates a gentle flowing stream across natural slate, producing a calm, natural sound while remaining fully self-contained and easy to install.
Where the Water Table Works Best
The Water Table is designed as a calm focal point for contemporary gardens.
It works particularly well in:
Planting next to a seating area
Courtyard gardens
Contemporary landscaped gardens
Patio seating areas
Gravel gardens
Modern planting schemes
The gentle stream sound adds movement and atmosphere without dominating the space.
Handcrafted slate and Corten steel
Each water table is built using:
Solid Corten steel reservoir base 3mm thick.
Built to last years and years.
Hand-shaped textured Cornish slate.
Integrated pump system and piping.
Designed and assembled in the UK.
The Corten base forms a clean architectural cylinder, housing the hidden water reservoir and pump.
The slate top is robust and built to last. It is deliberately textured to create a natural flowing sheet of water - producing a consistent, soothing stream sound rather than a light dribble.
Simple Installation
Place the Corten reservior anywhere in the garden; on the patio, decking or in a flower bed just next to the patio. Then lift the slate top section and lower it into the base, push the hose together and it is ready for water.
The Corten base acts as a self-contained reservoir.
No digging. No plumbing. No external water supply required, just fill and top up with your garden hose.
Position. Fill. Plug in. Enjoy.
Optional full installation and support available upon request.
Built to Last Outdoors
This is not a lightweight garden centre feature.
The reservoir is formed from 3mm thick Corten steel - designed to weather naturally and develop a rich, protective patina over time.
The slate top is solid natural stone, shaped and textured by hand. It will not fade, crack or deteriorate like resin alternatives.
Every material has been chosen for permenance.
It is designed to live outdoors - season after season.
